You haven't REALLY done Nebraska Pride until you've been in the Parade!
Whether you're a first time parade watcher or planning to march up Jackson Street for the umpteenth time, the Parade Committee is looking forward to working with you to make the Nebraska GLBT Pride Parade the best yet.

We recognize that the best way to make the Parade great is to support and encourage all the fantastic community entrants who participate. With that in mind, we'd like to hear from you about how we could better assist you. If you have any questions, the Parade Committee may be reached at parade@rainbowcelebrations.org.

If you would like to be considered for inclusion in the Pride Parade, please read and complete the application form to the right.

Parade applications need to be received by June 6 - applications WILL NOT be accepted after June 6. Rainbow Celebrations reserves the right to disallow entry to any application it deems inappropriate in the GLBT Pride Parade.

Parade Entry Fee

Parade Entry Fee
Because of a new City of Omaha Festival/Parade Policy, Rainbow Celebrations is now required to pay a fee to hold the annual parade.

In order to recoup this new expenditure, each 2008 GLBT Pride Parade Entry is required to pay a $10 Entry Fee for 2008. Send the entry fee along with your 2008 Pride Parade Entry Application form. Any entry which has not paid (in advance) the entry fee, will not be allowed to participate in the parade.

The 2008 theme is "Pride Knows No Borders".

The parade will take place Saturday June 21, 2008, in Omaha, Nebraska - Rain or Shine.

8:00 am Parade Preparation - (setup crew & parade monitors)
9:00 am - 10:30 am Parade Check-in and Line-Up
10:30 am - 10:50 am Judging for Grand Marshal's Choice & Rainbow Award
11:00 am Parade Begins
12:00 Noon Parade Concludes



Emcees

Parade Emcees
To help highlight the wonderful participating individuals and organizations, the parade will have Emcees this year who will provide information and commentary for the crowd of spectators over a public address system at the Judges Stand on the 10th Street Bridge. Our 2008 GLBT Pride Parade Emcees will be:






Awards

There are four competitive awards and two special awards for the parade.

Competitive Awards
Competitive awards are selected by the panel of three Parade Judges:




Every Parade entrant must select one of these 4 categories in which to compete. The four competitive awards are:

  • Best Float - $150 award
  • Best Vehicle - $75 award
  • Best Group - $75 award
  • Best Use of Theme - - $75 award

The winner of each competitive award receives a plaque and a monetary prize.

Parade Judges
The competitive awards are overseen by a panel of judges.

Special Awards
The parade has two special awards. These are:

  • The Rainbow Award - $75
    The colors of the rainbow carry special significance for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight ally community. The Rainbow Award recognizes this reality and goes to the entry showing the best use of rainbow colors as judged by the Rainbow Celebrations Pride Chair. The winner of this special award receives a plaque and a monetary prize of $75.

  • Grand Marshal's Choice Award - $75
    Each year wonderful nominees campaign for Grand Marshal of the Pride Parade. The Grand Marshal leads the annual GLBT Pride Parade through downtown Omaha. Prior to the step off of the parade, the Grand Marshal reviews and selects out of all the entries the recipient of the Grand Marshal's Choice Award. The winner of this special award receives a plaque and a monetary prize of $75.

IMPORTANT NOTE: all registered entries are eligible to receive one or both special awards in addition to receiving a competitive award.

Emcees & Judges Stand


Parade Route
2008 brings new and exciting changes to Nebraska Pride, with our new festival location the Lewis & Clark Landing on the banks of the Missouri River, we have established a new Parade Route. The parade begins at 10th & Pacific Streets, travels North on 10th Street to Farnam Street, turns East (Right) on Farnam Street to 8th Street, turns North (Left) on 8th Street, travels North on 8th Street and ends at the intersection of 8th Street and Riverfront Drive under the I-480 Bridge.
